Their concept this time around is centered on the persistence and disparity in which someone tries to win over the affections of their crush. They find themselves struggling with reason and emotions, which shows the growth of pain, desire, emptiness, and love. This emotional and heartfelt EP continues to show CIX’s diverse sides that pushes their continual rise to international fame and success. CIX has had an impressive streak of recognition as they have been nominated for countless awards, winning several of them including the Global Rookie Top 5 at the 2019 V Live Awards, as well as the Male Idol Rising Award at the Korea First Brand Awards. Their popularity and talent is impossible to overlook. With members BX, SEUNGHUN, BAEJINYOUNG, YONGHEE, and HYUNSUK, they are proving to be an unstoppable force in the K-Pop industry, showing that they have everything needed to be on top. Kpopmap had the privilege of sitting down with the group to discuss their newest EP and it was more than evident that CIX adores their FIX! Hi CIX, and thank you for joining us here at Kpopmap! We are honored and happy to be able to interview you while also giving your fans an opportunity to know more about you. To start off, can you introduce yourselves and tell us your favorite food? Hello, I’m CIX’s oldest member and leader, BX! My favorite food is 뼈해장국 (Bbyeo-haejangguk, Korean pork rib hangover soup). I like it because I can’t get tired of it. BX I’m SEUNGHUN, the main vocalist of CIX! My favorite food is Kimchi jjigae with a lot of enoki mushrooms that my mother makes for me. SEUNGHUN I’m BAEJINYOUNG, the center of CIX. I like chicken, so I often eat it as a late-night snack when I’m not busy. BAEJINYOUNG I’m YONGHEE, the vocalist of CIX. I like meat, especially steak! YONGHEE I’m CIX’s youngest, HYUNSUK! I eat everything well, but I like meat the most. HYUNSUK With the recent release of your new EP, “‘Ok’ Episode 1: OK Not,” which song in particular did you feel the most emotionally connected to? Personally, like when I’m singing all other songs, I thought of the fans a lot when I sang ‘Without You.’ We can’t think of CIX without FIX. That’s why I think ‘Without You’ is most emotionally connected to us. BAEJINYOUNG A part of the concept of the EP is about a person who is trying to win their lover’s heart. Have any of you ever tried desperately to win someone’s heart? If so, how did you try? Before I debuted as a singer, my parents strongly opposed me. In order to persuade my parents, I asked them to allow me if my school grades were over 90 percent on average, and I eventually got over 90 percent and got their approval! BX It has been 3 years now since CIX has debuted. How would you say you’ve changed since then? We’re still the same as when we debuted but we think our skills have improved a lot since then, and we’ve become more relaxed as we mature as well. Three years flew so fast, but we think we’ve made a lot of memories and matured greatly during that time. YONGHEE Is there a concept that you haven’t done that you would like to explore in the future? We’ve shown a variety of concepts before, but we also want to try something cute! Maybe something like TVXQ’s ‘Hug!’ SEUNGHUN Unlike SEUNGHUN’s opinion, I think it would be great to come back with a more dark and sexy concept than this album’s concept! HYUNSUK The title track is called ‘458’ and the electro hip-hop feel of the song is very catchy. What is the meaning behind the numbers? We wanted to express the keyword “instinct” in various ways through this title track. When we think of the word “instinct”, it’s easy to think of a wild, speedy concept! It reminded us of an image of an Italian sports car brand Ferrari. We eventually came up with ‘458,’ which is the representative number of Ferrari and also the last three digits of the speed of light. Through this number 458, we wanted to emphasize the desire to run to a special someone at the speed of light. HYUNSUK And as many fans have guessed, we wanted to metaphorically express ILU, short for “I Love You”, in the number 458 of the mobile keypad. YONGHEE The story of ‘458’ is about the conflict between the instinct to love and the power to hold in emotions. Are you the type to be able to hold in emotions? We think it depends on how we feel! We try to give back our gratitude and love to the fans who love CIX. At the same time, we think that it’s important to control any negative emotions with extra caution around people whom we cherish and care for. YONGHEE Also, going off the theme of love and the song ‘Drown in Luv’ on the album, what is love to you? We think love is the most honest emotion. That’s why we always try to express our feelings to the people we love! Especially FIX who give us a lot of strength! BX What has been the best moment of your career together as a group so far? We had a lot of precious and fun moments when we went somewhere or spend time together with the members. But in my opinion, the best moment was when we had our first concert with our fans. BAEJINYOUNG For anyone who does not know CIX or is a new fan, which song would you recommend that they listen to of yours and why? I want to recommend ‘Cinema!’ I think ‘Cinema’ is a song with an addictive yet comfortable melody. BX Please listen to our debut song, ‘Movie Star’! I recommend this song because it’s the song that announced the birth of CIX. SEUNGHUN And lastly, anything you want to say to overseas FIX or new fans? Thank you always for your continuous love and interest from afar! We will continue to work hard to grow as a better group!
